Here's our newly metallic Elizabeth. She only got the upper braces today. She'll be back in 8 weeks for the lower. Besides a headache, she's doing fine. After reviewing the "don't eat" list, she's a little sad that she won't be enjoying corn on the cob, caramels, or Fritos for a while. Right now she's taking a well deserved nap. Time to add a new tag for the blog: braces.

We're on the same journey as you and Elizabeth, although I am venturing to guess that E will have her braces off before Cate gets hers off.
What color bands did she get?
Memories---I got mine off in time for the senior prom!
JJ... Should be 2 years depending on how easily the impacted tooth can be coaxed down into place.
She didn't get colored bands. It wasn't until much later it occurred to her to ask. Some of her friends even have colored brackets (which seems like a risky thing to me - you better LOVE that color - no complaining that they don't match a particular outfit LOL)
Nonna... Looks like she'll spend 8 & 9th grade with braces like Patrick. Can you believe they only need to be adjusted every 8 weeks?!
Mine didn't come off until my jr. year of college I think. I'll go back and look at photos to confirm.
There was a guy in the next chair who was having his braces removed at the same time E was getting hers glued on. I'm hoping E didn't notice his groans every time the tech snapped off a bracket. I'm sure all she heard was the roar of the slurpy bendy stick (does it have an official name?). That thing makes me nostalgic for the olde tyme "rinse and spit" routine.
I lucked out ... got mine in 6th grade and had a horror of a orthodontia assistant/dental assistant at both locations who, to this day, still instills fear in me.
Nonna can attest to that.
But mine were looking at three years and I got them off in a little less than two and a half.
EVERY EIGHT WEEKS?! Holy crëpes.
When you guys get here to PA, I'll tell her all about the stuff on the "do not eat" list her mother ate!
